This is a wonderful plant fossil. It is a fabulous fossil Fern Frond from Johnson County, Missouri. This fern is preserved in a concretionary matrix, giving it excellent color and detail. The striking chocolate brown coloration is fully natural, and the minute detail is exquisite. The fern is beautifully showcased in the center of the nodule, and both halves of the split pair concretion are present. And there is even a cool Neuropteris leaf preserved in one half of the concretion! This is a very distinct plant fossil from this Mazon Creek-like locality.
