This is a very nice fossil fly in amber. It is a large True Midge (Chironomidae) from the Baltic Coast of Poland. The insect exhibits extremely fine detail - the head, body, wings, and long legs are all present. The insect is easily seen entombed within the honey-colored piece of amber. This is a great specimen of a True Midge trapped in fossil ''ooze''.
