This is a very unusual fossil fish association plate from the Eocene of Wyoming. There is a fish fossilized laying on top of a different type of fish! The fish on top is an excellent specimen of Diplomystus dentatus. The fish on the bottom is a nice specimen of Knightia eocaena. Both fish exhibit wonderful detail. The bone structure, fins, and tails are very nicely displayed. The fish have great natural color that contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fish are well showcased on the large, rectangular plate of shale. This is an excellent specimen of two different types of fossil fish from the Green River Formation.
